The theme of the Fuorisalone 2024 was Materia Natura.
This year, we saw a clear shift towards natural and sustainable materials, combined with bold color choices that add a new dimension to interiors. Below, we take you through the most striking discoveries.
Standout Materials :
Biobased and Circular Materials
Sustainability took center stage with innovative biobased materials. Many designs featured recycled fabrics, organic coatings, and new composites made from residual materials such as seashells and coffee grounds.
Tactile Surfaces
Soft, textured structures drew a lot of attention. Materials such as crackled ceramics, ribbed glass, and pressed textiles added an extra sensory dimension to interiors.
Metals with Character
Oxidized copper, aged bronze, and weathered aluminum brought a handcrafted, timeless aesthetic to furniture and decorative elements.
Color Palette 2024
Warm Earth Tones
Think terracotta, deep rust hues, and warm sandy shades, all evoking a sense of tranquility and connection to nature.
Deep Blues
Ranging from indigo to midnight blue, these shades add a touch of elegance and mystery to interiors.
Pastels with a Twist
Soft pastels were paired with surprising accents, such as lilac with vibrant orange or mint green with deep aubergine.
These trends highlight the growing awareness of how materials and colors shape atmosphere, sustainability, and sensory experiences in interior design.

Materialen en Kleuren van Milan Design Week 2024
Milan Design Week 2024 bracht een overvloed aan inspirerende trends op het gebied van kleuren en materialen. Het thema van Fuorisalone 2024 was “Materia Natura”.
Dit jaar zagen we een duidelijke focus naar natuurlijke en duurzame materialen, gecombineerd met gedurfde kleurkeuzes. Hieronder neem ik je mee in wat mij het meest inspireerde.
Opvallende Materialen:
Biobased en circulaire materialen
Duurzaamheid stond centraal met innovatieve biobased materialen. Er waren veel toepassingen van gerecyclede stoffen, organische coatings en nieuwe composieten gemaakt van restmaterialen zoals schelpen en koffiedik.
Tactiele oppervlakken
Zachte, reliëfrijke structuren trokken veel aandacht. Materialen zoals gekrakeleerd keramiek, ribbelglas en geperst textiel zorgden voor een extra zintuiglijke ervaring.
Metaal met karakter
Geoxideerd koper, brons en aluminium met een verweerde uitstraling gaven een ambachtelijke en tijdloze uitstraling aan meubels en decoratieve elementen.
Kleurenpalet 2024
Warme aardetinten
Denk aan terracotta, diepe roestkleuren en warme zandtinten die een gevoel van rust en verbondenheid met de natuur brengen.
Diepe blauwtinten
Van indigo tot nachtblauw, deze tinten brengen een vleugje elegantie en mystiek in het interieur.
Pasteltinten met een twist
Zachte pastels werden gecombineerd met verrassende accenten, zoals lila met feloranje of mintgroen met diep aubergine.
Deze trends laten zien dat materialen en kleuren steeds bewuster worden ingezet om sfeer, duurzaamheid en tactiliteit in interieurs te versterken.
