In Milan at the design week, iittala presented a new product “Plektra” that is designed by Dutch Designer Ineke Hans. iittala is a brand from Finland that ones started as a glass factory, but nowadays is also designing the most beautiful design Icons, as I may say.iittala is one of my favourite brands when it comes to plates, cutlery, pots and pans, vases and smaller interior objects. I have quiet a few items in my house and use them on a daily basis. The minimalist designs are made of very high quality materials and have timeless look and feel. That way it stays beautiful for a very long time.Since the start, they produced beautiful design icons like the well known Alto vase. Step by step iittala is introducing more small interior objects like the Vitriini boxes, the Vakka boxes and the Leimu lamp. This new introduced designed stool annex side-table “Plectra” complements the collection of iitala’s small interior items. It’s feels only natural that this new multi functional item is a member of the family now.
Ineke Hans, who designed several iconic designs herself, like the coat stand “Forest for the Tree” for Lensvelt, has made this hybride item practical, playful and beautiful. The natural look and feel of the material plywood fits perfectly in the scandinavian style. It’s available in two different heights and three colors: Natural Plywood, White and Yellow. On my wish-list!

“The stackable Plektra is very useful on a day to day basis: as a side table next to your sofa or bed, as a stepping stone for children or, of course as stool. Due to the difference in height, they make a nice set and you can combine them into a table with two levels. The opening in the middle, makes them easy to pick up and move around the house.”

het is minimalistisch + functioneel + natuurlijk
In Milaan, tijdens de Design week, introduceerde iittala een nieuw product dat is ontworpen door de Nederlandse ontwerper Ineke Hans. Iittala is een design merk uit Finland, dat ooit begon als een glasfabriek, maar tegenwoordig, naar mijn mening, nog steeds de mooiste ontwerpen maakt. Dit nieuwe ontwerp, een krukje annex bijzettafeltje genaamd “Plektra”, is een aanvulling op de huidige collectie van iittala’s kleine interieur items. iittala is een van mijn favoriete merken als het gaat om borden, bestek, potten en pannen, vazen en kleinere interieur objecten.
Ineke Hans, die al eerder verschillende iconische items zoals bijvoorbeeld de kapstok “Forest for the Tree” voor Lensvelt ontwierp, heeft dit hybride tafeltje praktische speels en mooi gemaakt. De natuurlijke look en feel van het materiaal multiplex past perfect in de Scandinavische stijl. Het is verkrijgbaar in twee verschillende hoogtes en drie kleuren: Natuurlijk multiplex, wit en geel. Bij mij staat het krukje inmiddels op mijn wish-list.

“De stapelbare Plektra is erg handig in het dagelijks gebruik: als bijzettafeltje naast je bank of bed, als een opstap voor kinderen of natuurlijk als krukje. Door het verschil in hoogte, maken ze samen een mooie set en je kunt ze combineren tot een tafeltje met twee niveaus. De opening in het midden, maakt het makkelijk ze op te pakken en mee te nemen door je hele huis.”

“Woonruimten worden steeds kleiner, persoonlijker en multi-functioneler, en met kleine producten moet het leven dan ook des te makkelijker worden gemaakt. De behoefte aan multifunctionele meubels en veelzijdige objecten zal in de toekomst alleen maar groter worden. “Voor mij is er sprake van praktische functionaliteit wanneer dingen doen waarvoor ze zijn bedoeld, en van mentale functionaliteit wanneer ze poëtisch zijn en een goed gevoel geven. Door hun functionaliteit gaan producten langer mee en zijn ze des te duurzamer.”
