For me, it’s always an honor to be asked by a good design brand to go with them on a trip. So when Thonet asked if I would join their IMM Cologne tour, I immediately said yes.
Thonet is one of those design furniture brands that everybody knows, but sometimes don’t realize it. But I’m sure you’ve seen the classic 233 “Cafe Chair”. Can you believe this was designed in 1895? In the past century, you can say that Thonet has transformed from a woodworking shop into industrial production with their well-known bentwood furniture. Also many famous designers and architects designed for Thonet, like Marcel Breuer, Mart Stam and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
