A while ago I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress. And since I’m blogging from 2007, there are a lot of blogposts to check… So if you see a blogpost that’s missing photo’s or has a weird layout, please let me know by leaving a comment at that particular blogpost. In the meantime I’m walking through all my posts myself too.

It’s that time of the year again. Days get shorter and evenings are getting longer. A good moment to focus on your indoor lighting.
Visiting the Dutch “VTWonen Design beurs” a yearly interior design fair by vtwonen.nl, I was drawn to the Eikelenboom booth. Eikelenboom is a Dutch brand with lighting fixtures of their own and by a few other international Design brands.
What I discovered were several beautiful graphic lighting fixtures, that I love to share with you. I think such beautiful pieces like the chandeliers, can really upgrade your interior when used as an eye catcher. The minimal reading and table lights are subtly present. But my ultimate favorite one is the Pin wall lighting fixture by Vibia. Definitely on my wishlist!

Verlichting liefde
Het is weer de tijd van het jaar: Dagen worden korter en de avonden steeds langer. Een goed moment om je te concentreren op de binnen verlichting.
Tijdens mijn bezoek aan de VTWonen Design beurs van vtwonen.nl, werd mijn oog getrokken naar de stand van Eikelenboom. Eikelenboom is een Nederlands merk met verlichting van eigen bodem en van een aantal internationale merken.
Wat ik daar ontdekte waren verschillend prachtige grafische verlichtingsarmaturen, die ik graag met jullie wil delen. Ik denk dat zulke mooie items zoals de kroonluchters, je interieur echt kunnen upgraden als het als een eyecather wordt toegepast. De minimalistische lees- en tafellampen zijn juist weer heel subtiel aanwezig. Maar mijn ultime favoriet is de Pin wandlamp van Vibia. Die staat bovenaan mijn verlanglijstje!

There is a dream apartment in Stockholm! Wow! It’s not big, but just what you need, if you prefer a minimal home. Beautiful wooden floors and use of material, minimal forms. The industrial glass doors are perfect for this place.
They let the light through, but also separates the bedroom from the kitchen and living room. I love the small workplace and white walls. And a great kitchen with lots of cabinets and a marble countertop. That gives the apartment just a little bit of a luxurious touch.
The lovely bedroom is very cosy. Fantastic Frank has had te apartment for sale. Take good lessons from this one! It shows you how you can create this peaceful minimal place for yourself.

MINIMAListisch INTERIEUR INSPIRATIE

Er is een droom appartement in Stockholm! Wauw! Het is niet groot, maar net wat je nodig hebt, als je van een minimalistisch huis houdt. Prachtige houten vloeren en het mooi gebruik van materialen en vormen.
De industriële glazen deuren zijn perfect voor deze plek. Het laat het licht door, maar scheidt ook de slaapkamer van de keuken en woonkamer. Super mooi, dat kleine werkplekje en de witte muren. De keuken met veel kastruimte en het marmeren aanrechtblad geven het appartement net dat beetje extra luxe gevoel.
De slaapkamer is gezellig klein. Fantastic Frank heeft dit appartement te koop gehad. Je kunt veel lessen leren van deze presentatie. Het laat je perfect zien hoe jij ook een minimalistiche en rustige plek voor jezelf kan creëren.
A day spent in a very wet cornfield for the Ikea catalogue 2016-17 is a day well spent!
Every august you know it’s coming: The new Ikea magazine. This time Ikea Netherlands organized a big launch in the middle of a cornfield, to present the newest items, and to announce some collaborations for the upcoming year, like with Dutch Designer Piet Hein Eek, Hay and Tom Dixon [ Yay!!!] Piet Hein Eek will be working on two collections: the JASSA and INDUSTRIELL collection.
Although it was raining cats and dogs, I loved the way Ikea presented itself. I can easily imagine how wonderful it would have looked, if the sun was shining that day.
In a big cornfield, Ikea made a pentagon shaped path which stands for the 5 principles they stand for: Form – Function – Quality – Sustainable and Affordable design.
The center of this pentagon was an open tent where we were served a delicious lunch. Ikea is making the food they serve in the restaurants more healthy and we got some very nice and good tasting salads and the pulled salmon sandwich for lunch.
After lunch, I walked the 5 paths and there were different stages with the new furniture, textiles and accessories. Along the way, I spotted sets of wooden boxes on high legs, with smaller objects and styling elements. Loved it!
Amongst the new designs are: the design kitchens, the funky SÄLLSKAP collection and the SLADDA bike. And of course the IKEA PS 2017 collection, with the Dutch-based,Eindhoven’s design duo Truly Truly. More info about the special collections you can find at IKEA.today.
The new collections will be revealed during the year, but some of them are already available in the stores as of now. Below a selection of my favorite items.
Een dag doorgebracht in een zeer nat korenveld voor de IKEA catalogus 2016 2017 launch, is een dag goed besteed!
Elk jaar in augustus je weet dat “ie” er aan komt: de nieuwe Ikea gids. Deze keer organiseerde Ikea Nederland de lancering groots, midden in een maïsveld. De nieuwste items werden gepresenteerd en een aantal samenwerkingen met designers voor het komende jaar, werden aangekondigd. Zoals met ontwerper Piet Hein Eek, het skandinavische merkt Hay en designer Tom Dixon. [ jippie !!!] Piet Hein Eek gaat werken aan twee collecties: de Jassa en Indusriell collectie.
Hoewel het weer niet echt mee werkte, het regende pijpenstelen, vond ik de gekozen presentatie echt heel mooi en verrassend. Stel je toch voor als de zon wel had geschenen, dan zou het er nog mooier zijn geweest…..
In een groot maïsveld maakte Ikea een vijfhoekig pad, dat staat voor de 5 principes waar zij voor staan: Vorm – Functie – Kwaliteit – Duurzaam en Betaalbaar design.
Het centrum van deze vijfhoek was een open tent waar we een heerlijke lunch geserveerd kregen. Ikea is het eten dat ze serveren in de restaurants aan het verbeteren naar meer gezonde maaltijden. We kregen een aantal mooie en lekkere salades en de nieuw “pulled salmon sandwich” voorgeschoteld.
Na de lunch liep ik de 5 paden door. Op diverse punten waren units met de nieuwe collectie meubels, textiel en accessoires. Langs de paden stonden een aantal sets houten boxen op hoge poten, met kleinere objecten en styling elementen er in. Mooie presentatie en mooie accessoires!
Onder de nieuwe items zijn oa de nieuwe design keukens, de funky SÄLLSKAP collectie en de SLADDA fiets. En natuurlijk de IKEA PS 2017 collectie, met het in Eindhoven gesettelde ontwerp duo Truly Truly. Meer info over deze special collecties kun je vinden op IKEA.today .
De nieuwe collecties zullen in de loop van het jaar worden onthuld. Sommige zijn zelfs nu al verkijgbaar in de winkels. Hierboven een selectie van mijn favorite items.

It’s the middle of August…. Can you believe it? Summer is almost over and I’ve got the feeling it didn’t even start yet. I don’t know how it is with you, but here in The Netherlands, we’ve had a very wet summer so far. I’m hoping for a nice “Indian Summer” in September, to make it up a bit…
In the meantime, when the weather is not tempting to go outside, it’s the perfect time to prep your home for fall and winter. My secret is to add lots of texture to your home. When it’s getting colder, texture adds warmth to your home and gives you comfort. Also, it keeps you in touch with nature, which is good for us.
A while ago I got this little and cute book “Texture” by Ryland Peters & Small publishers, and I’ve picked it up for inspiration many times. The book walks you through many different ways and styles. 4 Materials are run through. Wood, linen, stone and wool. For me basic essentials for the home. And yes, also for a contemporary or minimal interior.
Of course, the book shows many different styles to inspire, so that there is something for everyone. Besides the beautiful pictures, there are many many tips how to apply texture to your home and outdoor. This little book is one to stay!

Het is midden augustus …. Kun jij het geloven? De zomer is bijna voorbij en ik heb het gevoel dat het nog niet eens is begonnen. Ik weet niet hoe het daar is, maar hier in Nederland hebben we een zeer natte zomer tot nu toe. Ik hoop nog stiekem op een mooie “Indian Summer” in september, om het nog een beetje goed te maken.
In de tussentijd, wanneer het weer niet echt zo verleidelijk is om naar buiten te gaan, is het de perfecte tijd om je huis vast voor de herfst en winter voor te bereiden. Mijn geheim is om veel textuur toe te voegen aan je interieur. Als het kouder wordt voegt textuur warmte aan je huis en geeft je comfort. Ook houdt dat je in contact met de natuur en dat is goed voor ons.
Een tijdje geleden kreeg ik dit kleine en leuke boek “Textuur” van Ryland Peters & Small uitgevers. Ik heb het al diverse keren opgepakt voor inspiratie. Het boek leidt je door vele verschillende toepassingen en stijlen. 4 Materialen worden besproken. Hout, linnen, steen en wol. Voor mij essentiele elementen voor in huis. En ja, ook voor in een eigentijds of minimalistisch interieur.
Het boekje laat verschillende inspirerende stijlen zien, zodat er voor ieder wat wils is. Naast de prachtige foto’s staan er vele tips beschreven hoe textuur toe te passen in je huis en ook buiten. Dit boekje is er een die blijft!

Who wouldn’t want to wake up in this hotel room? It’s one of the rooms of the new Hotel Blue in Nijmegen NL. In my blogpost about the Blue lounge, restaurant and bar, you can read all about my stay. Since there was so much to show, I’ve made this second post.
I love the moody colors used on the walls and ceilings. It gives the room a cosy look and is a bit masculine at the same time. The added yellow touch of the small table is just perfect. The rooms all have these wonderful high ceilings.
The bed was very comfortable and made with crispy white sheets. I love the big leather pillow: I want to steal that idea for my own bed at home.
We were lucky with a nice balcony. I love to open the doors and sit outside for a bit. If possible, ask for this when you book the room. Not all rooms have one. A small but comfortable sitting nook in black is just enough to drink your first made coffee in the morning, or write your postcards for home.
The comfortable shower and beautiful sink, designed by Jee-O, make the room complete. Hotel Blue provides a goody bag with coffee, tea and the nicest shower gel and shampoo.
Wie zou er nou niet wakker willen worden in deze hotel kamer? Het is een van de kamers van het nieuwe Hotel Blue in Nijmegen. In mijn eerdere blogpost over de Blue lounge, het restaurant en de bar, kunt je alles over mijn verblijf. Er was zo veel mooist om te laten zien, heb ik er twee posts van heb gemaakt.
In de kamers zijn ale wanden, inclusief het palfond geschilders in een donkere tint, een “moody color” zoals ze dat noemen. Het geeft de kamer een gezellige uitstraling en is stoer tegelijk. Het toefje geel in de vorm van het bijzettafeltje annex nachtkastje de kleine tafel isperfect. De kamers hebben allemaal prachtige hoge plafonds.
Het bed was zeer comfortabel en opgmaakt met heerlijk knisperend verse witte lakens. Prachtig, dat grote leder kussen aan het hoofdeind: Ik wil dat idee stelen voor op mijn eigen bed thuis.
We hadden geluk met een mooi prive balkon aan de kamer. Heerlijk om de deuren te openen en even buiten te kunnen zitten. Tip: vraag naar ene kamer met balkon, wanneer je een kamer boekt. Niet alle kamers hebben er één Het is niet altijd mogelijk, maar wel heel fijn!
Een kleine, maar comfortabele zithoekje in het zwart, is net genoeg om je eerste zelf gemaakte koffie te drinken in de ochtend, of je schrijf er een kaartje naar huis.
De comfortabele douche en mooie wastafel, ontworpen door Jee-O , maken de kamer compleet. Hotel Blue verschaft je bij aankomst een goody bag met fijne koffie, thee en de heerlijke douchegel en shampoo.
