A while ago I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress. And since I’m blogging from 2007, there are a lot of blogposts to check… So if you see a blogpost that’s missing photo’s or has a weird layout, please let me know by leaving a comment at that particular blogpost. In the meantime I’m walking through all my posts myself too.

Ik heb mijn blog van Blogger naar WordPress verhuisd! En aangezien ik sinds 2007 blog, zijn er een heleboel blogposts te controleren … Dus: zie je een blogpost waarbij foto’s ontbreken of die een rare lay-out heeft, laat het me weten dmv het plaatsen van een reactie op die blogpost. In de tussentijd loop ik al mijn berichten zelf ook nog na.
Ik hoop dat mijn nieuwe layout bevalt!

for this year and the 5th trend is Urban Christmas.
Well… that’s my favourite!
I kinda like decoration with a wink like these acorn Christmas hangers and the ceramic folded “paper” bird. Not the typical Christmas decoration, but they do very well in an Urban Christmas home.
But when you add the blue and white gradient plates and pillow together with a reindeer rug, the copper and blue wine glasses, copper lamp and wooden tree hanger, you instantly add luxury, personality AND a Christmas feeling in a more industrial or minimalistic home [which I adore].
It all combines really well.
I selected some of my favourite items at Westwing.

Zoals deze eikel kerstboom hangers
en de keramische vogel van “gevouwen papier”.
Niet de meest typische kerstdecoratie,
maar ze doen heel goed in een “Urban home”.
Maar wanneer je de blauwe en witte degrade borden en kussen samen met een Rendier tapijt gaat toevoegen. Plus de koper blauwe wijnglazen, de koperen lamp toevoegt en nog de houten boom hangers, dan creëer je direct een Urban kerstsfeer.
Je voegt persoonlijkheid en luxe en toe aan bv een meer minimalistisch of industrieel huis.
Wonderlijk wel combineert dat allemaal echt goed.
Ik heb een aantal van mijn favoriete items van Westwing geselecteerd.

Dick Van Hoff designed this elegant media rack for Functionals.
The dock’s form and walnut wood detailing references the traditional Dutch magazine rack, but the white aluminum base is firmly rooted in the present. Van Hoff’s sly message here is that “antique” forms of communication like newspapers and magazines can peacefully co-exist with the iPad, today’s portable, personal news kiosk.

De vorm en het notenhout doen denken aan de meer traditionele Nederlandse tijdschrift rekken, maar de witte aluminium voet is stevig geworteld in het heden. Van Hoff’s sluwe boodschap hier is dat “antieke” vormen van communicatie zoals kranten en tijdschriften en de nieuwe media , de draagbare kiosk in de vorm van een Ipad , vreedzaam naast elkaar kunnen [be-]staan.

Functionals Paxton black candle holder | Black Xmas styling trend
Black is the new black…
I spotted this black table styling trend last summer in Copenhagen [ see my instagram picture below] and I’m thrilled: I’m going to style my dining table like this for Xmas.
So no white Christmas for me! Last year I also went of a lot of black, but this year I’ll go for all black… It looks great with al the food. Just like the paintings of the Dutch Masters I love so much, but I want a very NOW feeling mixed with this golden age thing.
That’s where the styling elements of Functionals come in: thats just the right touch.

DE kerst trend voor 2014:
Zwart is het nieuwe zwart …
Ik spotte deze zwarte tafel styling trend afgelopen zomer al in Kopenhagen en ik ben blij: ik ga mijn eettafel voor de kerst helemaal in het zwart stylen. Dus dit jaar geen witte kerst voor mij! Vorig jaar ging ik ook van veel zwart, maar dit jaar ga ik voor alles in zwart … Het ziet er geweldig uit met al het eten voor het Kerst diner. Net als de schilderijen van de Nederlandse Meesters waar ik zo van houd, maar ik wil dit Gouden Eeuw sfeertje het wel mengen een NU gevoel.
Dat is waar de styling elementen van Functionals goed van pas komen: dat is precies de juiste touch.
Als je wilt deze stijl zelf ook wilt creëren bij jou thuis, dan kun je zeker een aantal goede items bij Functionals vinden!
