And since I’m blogging from 2007, there are a lot of blogposts to check… So if you see a blogpost that’s missing photo’s or has a weird layout, please let me know by leaving a comment at that particular blogpost. .PSLAB is located in Beirut, Lebanon.
They design and manufacture context specifically for projects and also for residential interiors.
.PSLAB received several design awards. As they say themselves:
“We are mostly known for our lighting services – our international projects include custom-made technical and
sculptural lighting objects in collaboration with renowned architects and designers. For each project, we make
specific objects for specific contexts. While our practice has mainly coalesced around lighting services,.PSLAB
continues to expand its repertoire to include a wide variety of design projects.”
While.PSLAB designed the light fixtures for the conceptstore,
the interior design is done by Vincent van Duysen, which is also one of my favourite designers.
.PSLAB took us for a tour throughout the building.
All the lighting is especially designed and made for this whole building.
In the shop they showed us the lamps used on the walls, ceiling and pillars.
But also, for this occasion, there was a very minimalistic and industrial presentation:
PSLAB unassembled the parts of the lamps and put them in order on a steel plate,
together with the drawings. I loved this way of presentation.
Most of the lights are tubular shaped. Except the genuine old car lights on the wall.
These unique lamps I like the most.
Graanmarkt 13 is one of my favourite stores in Antwerpen.
I always go there when I visit the city.
I love the designs by .PSLAB and Vincent van Duysen
so this was a great opportunity for me to meet and greet them in person.
There is also a high-end restaurant by Seppe Nobels in the basement
and a very very nice apartment which you can rent, above the store.
I made some very nice pictures there too, so stay tuned for that blogpost!

Industriële presentatie van .PSLAB verlichting bij conceptstore Graanmarkt 13 Antwerpen
Uitgenodigd worden voor de brunch in Conceptstore Graanmarkt 13 Antwerpen door .PSLAB was een van de hoogtepunten van 2014!
.PSLAB is een ontwerp bureau gevestigd in Beiroet, Libanon. Zij ontwerpen en produceren context specifiek voor projecten maar ook voor privé huizen. .PSLAB ontving verschillende design awards.
Zoals ze zelf zeggen:
“We zijn vooral bekend om onze verlichting diensten – onze internationale projecten zijn op maat gemaakte technische en sculpturale verlichting objecten in samenwerking met gerenommeerde architecten en ontwerpers. Voor elk project maken we specifieke objecten voor specifieke contexten. Onze diensten als bureau concentreren zich nu voornamelijk rond verlichting, maar .PSLAB blijft zijn repertoire uitbreiden naar een breed scala van ontwerp en projecten. “
.PSLAB ontwierp de lampen voor de conceptstore, het interieur werd ontworpen door Vincent Van Duysen, die ook een van mijn favoriete ontwerpers is.
.PSLAB nam ons mee voor een rondleiding door het gebouw. Alle verlichting is speciaal ontworpen en gemaakt voor dit hele gebouw. In de winkel lieten ze ons de toegepaste lampen op de muren, het plafond en pilaren zien. Maar ook was er, speciaal voor deze gelegenheid, een zeer minimalistisch en industriële presentatie: .PSLAB demonteerde de delen van de lampen en zette ze in volgorde op een stalen plaat, samen met de industrieel technische tekeningen. Ik hou wel van deze manier van presenteren.
De meeste lampen zijn buisvormig. Behalve de oude auto verlichting op de muur. Dit vind ik de mooiste lampen van dit project!
Graanmarkt 13 is een van mijn favoriete winkels in Antwerpen. Ik ga er altijd heen wanneer ik een bezoekje aan de stad breng. Daarnaast waardeer ik de ontwerpen van .PSLAB en Vincent van Duysen enorm, zij zijn een gewaardeerde inspiratiebron voor mij. Dus dit was een geweldige kans om hen allemaal persoonlijk te ontmoeten. Ps: Er is ook een high-end restaurant van chefkok Seppe Nobels in de kelder en een heel erg mooi appartement dat je kunt huren, boven de winkel. Ik heb er een aantal hele mooie foto’s gemaakt, dus: Blijf nog even rondhangen hier voor die blogpost!

Living in an Urban environment is getting
more and more the normal habitat for us people.
The trends and changes on how we’re going
to live in these cities and metropoles
is something that intrigues me very much.
I do a lot of research on this subject myself too.
I’m so happy that I can share this trend and prognose with you.

Urban & Life
My love for art, design and especially imagery,
is a passion I grew up with,
as my father is a sculptor and painter and my mother a writer,
I learned as a child to look around and make connections.
I was raised to stand up for the less fortunate,
and to be critical about society and the government.
I have a wide interest in the evolution and changes of our society.
These passions and talents I combine by making trendboards.
Trends:
At this moment we are living in a structural changing society,
in areas like healthcare,
employment, technology and financial.
There are shifts going on, from top down
to a bottom up society,
where citizen will take action,
initiative and responsibility.
These changes, as all changes,
will be in the beginning chaotic
and have resistance among a certain group(s),
especially the conservative,
they will cherish their old values,
but also from the governments and multi nationals.
The structural changes like urbanisation have already started.
cities are growing fast,
the cause and effect are several,
but mainly economical.
More people will be living on less square meters,
there is also a growth of singles
and households of one person.
Because of this, houses and apartments
will be smaller and have to be
furnished with efficient furniture.
Our mobility within our work and living
environment will expand increasingly.
We are more and more mobile in our work.
Empty buildings are turning in to apartments or pop-up shops.
There is also an environmental shift going on,
most of the citizens have no more faith
in the food industries,
a variety of initiatives like
growing your own food will rise in the cities,
gardens all over, on roof,
balcony and even on the sidewalk.
There will be cooperations maintaining these gardens,
within your neighborhood or among friends.
Mayors will become more powerful and
will make their own policies,
decision making will be faster
and no more waiting for the central office in The Hague.
All these changes are already
in process and will grow and become more apparent in 2020.
Urbanization creates many trends in Interior Design;
below you will find my favourite three trendboards:
Versatile & Foldable:
because of smaller housing and flexible workspace,
houses are and will be efficiently furnished.
By using versatile and foldable furniture and with warm nooks
and cushions to escape the confusing and chaotic world outside.

Less & Consumerism:
a shift in which we buy less,
and will clean our houses rigorously and spend lesser money.
This is a clear resist against capitalism and consumerism,
and with less it is also easier to furniture your smaller house.
The definition of less is more will be apparent in this process.
——
Old & Fashion:
because of all these strong structural changes,
there is a longing for the past, when all was clear,
predictable and the old values had meaning.
Therefor we can see influences like retro,
vintage and industrial all combined in one synergetic lifestyle.

Hallo 2015!
Allereerst: Ik wens jullie het allerbeste voor 2015.
Voor de start van dit nieuwe jaar heb ik trendwatcher Judith Pelgrom uitgenodigd om een interieur trend presentatie voor mijn blog te schrijven.
Wonen in een stedelijke omgeving wordt meer en meer de natuurlijke habitat voor ons mensen,
De veranderingen en trends over hoe we gaan leven in die steden en metropolen intrigeren me zeer.
Zelf doe ik ook veel onderzoek naar dit onderwerp.
Ik ben zo blij dat ik deze trends en de prognoses met jullie kan delen.

Urban & Life
Mijn liefde voor kunst, design en vooral beelden, heb ik met de paplepel meegekregen,
mijn vader is beeldend kunstenaar en mijn moeder schrijfster,
hierdoor heb ik als kind al geleerd goed te kijken en verbindingen te leggen.
Ook heb ik in mijn opvoeding meegekregen,
altijd op te komen voor de minder bedeelden en altijd kritisch te zijn,
vooral naar de gevestigde orde..
Ik ben erg geïnteresseerd in wat er om ons heen gebeurt en wat er allemaal verandert.
Deze antennes in combinatie met mijn passie voor beelden,
verbind ik door het maken van trendborden.
Trends:
We leven op dit moment in een maatschappij met structurele veranderingen
op vele gebieden zoals zorg, werk, technologie en financieel.
Er zijn allerlei verschuivingen aan de hand,
van boven opgelegd of door de burger zelf geïnitieerd.
We veranderen van een top down naar een bottom up maatschappij,
waarin de burger het initiatief heeft en zijn verantwoordelijkheid neemt.
Deze veranderingen zullen eerst nog voor chaos en verzet zorgen,
vooral verzet bij de gevestigde orde, zoals de overheid en grote bedrijven.
Maar ook verzet onder de behoudende burgers, zij zullen de oude waarden gaan koesteren.
Een van de veranderingen waar we nu al in leven is de verstedelijking,
de steden zijn aan het groeien,
de oorzaak hiervan is verschillend,
maar voornamelijk economisch, waardoor we met meer bewoners
op minder vierkante meters gaan wonen. Mede door de groei van een-persoonshuishoudens,
zullen daardoor de huizen kleiner en efficiënter ingericht worden.
We zijn mobieler in werk, de kantoorruimtes worden woonruimtes
of er worden Pop up bedrijfjes gevestigd.
Door tal van andere stromingen verandert ook de leefomgeving in de steden,
het vertrouwen in de overheid en industrie, is verdwenen.
Hierdoor ontstaan er allerlei initiatieven van de burgers
waarvan het verbouwen van je eigen voedsel er een is.
Overal in de steden rijzen moestuinen op,
op daken, stoepen en leegstaande gebouwen, vaak verzorgd door een buurt of vrienden.
Het mooie is dat we zelf onze groene omgeving creëren en daar ook voor zorgen.
Burgemeesters worden meer beleidsbepalers en nemen meer macht en omzeilen de regering in Den Haag.
Hierdoor maken ze snellere beslissingen,
die weer de veranderingen op lokaal niveau zullen versnellen.
Bovengenoemde processen zijn op dit moment al in volle gang,
in 2020 zal het alleen maar bekender en meer geïmplementeerd zijn.
Uit deze verstedelijking zie ik 3 stromingen in het interieur ontstaan:
Versatile & Foldable:
door het kleiner wonen en mobiel werken,
zullen de huizen efficient worden ingericht met meubels met verschillende toepassingen,
bijvoorbeeld inklapbaar en opvouwbaar zijn,
met daarnaast warmte met nooks en kussens,
om de chaos en drukte en verwarring van buiten te ontvluchten.
——
Less & Consumerism:
een stroming waarin we minder gaan kopen,
maar ook rigoureus thuis gaan opruimen
en alleen behouden wat we echt nodig hebben,
we geven zo min mogelijk geld uit en verzetten ons tegen de kapitalistische,
consumerende maatschappij, ook kun je makkelijker met Less,
je kleine woning inrichten.
Less is more is hier van toepassing.

Old & Fashion:
door de sterke veranderingen, verlangen we ook naar vroeger,
toen alles nog zeker en duidelijk was,
de oude waarden, hierdoor krijg je invloeden zoals retro,
vintage en industrieel, allen synergetisch toegepast.

Last summer the Playing Circle organised “The Loft” in Amsterdam for the first time. It was a real gem. This time they did it again… Other location, other items, other furniture and accessories but again: a gem! What a great concept to show how one can live, in this extraordinary space. Afgelopen zomer organiseerde The Playing Circle ” The Loft” voor de eerste keer. Het was een echt juweeltje. Deze keer is het weer raak … Andere locatie, andere items, andere meubels en accessoires, maar: weer een juweeltje! Wat een geweldig concept om in deze buitengewoon mooie ruimte te laten zien hoe je kunt wonen. En het leuke is: alles is te koop Kijk zelf maar. En ga ook echt even life kijken in Amsterdam! Vintage Finds
On February 7 and 8 times sixty international vintage traders back to Amsterdam for Design Icons 2015. The vast collection of 20th century furniture design to create a location Design Icons to vintage shopping event of the year.
In Paris, Brussels, Ghent, Berlin and Dusseldorf were already successful fairs in the area of original vintage designs. Thus, the idea arose to let the vintage professionals converge on Dutch soil.
During the Design Icons weekend the great icons to find Eames, Rietveld, Jacobsen and Mies van der Rohe, as well as affordable interior pieces. Furniture designers of the postwar period were experimenting with new materials, modern design and the function in the interior. The designs of the past are to this day still a great inspiration. Scandinavian sideboards stand alongside industrial design and designer light fittings from the years ’50 next fiberglass bucket seats. Design Icons will take place in the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam North. This raw, industrial marine plant has been refurbished to a characteristic event location with views over the water of the IJ and the city center.
Nice getaway unpacked from Amsterdam Central the free ferry to `Noord`! Then it’s a 10 minute walk to the Kromhouthal.

Op 7 en 8 februari keren zestig internationale vintage handelaren terug naar Amsterdam voor Design Icons 2015. De enorme verzameling van 20e eeuws meubeldesign op een locatie maakt Design Icons tot hét vintage shopping event van het jaar.
In Parijs, Brussel, Gent, Berlijn en Düsseldorf waren al succesvolle beurzen op het gebied van origineel vintage design. Zo ontstond het idee om de vintage professionals te laten samenkomen op Hollandse bodem.
Tijdens het Design Icons weekend zijn de grote iconen te vinden van Eames, Rietveld, Jacobsen en Mies van der Rohe, als ook betaalbare interieurstukken. Meubelontwerpers van de na-oorlogse periode experimenteerden met nieuwe materialen, moderne vormgeving en de functie in het interieur. De designs van toen zijn tot op de dag van vandaag nog een grote inspiratie. Scandinavische sideboards staan naast industrieel design en Italiaanse designverlichting uit de jaren `50 naast fiberglass kuipstoelen. Design Icons vindt plaats in de Kromhouthal in Amsterdam-Noord. Deze rauwe, industriële scheepsmotorenfabriek is gerenoveerd tot een karakteristieke evenementenlocatie met uitzicht over het water van het IJ en het stadscentrum.
Leuk uitje: pak vanaf Amsterdam Centraal het gratis pontje naar `Noord`! Dan is het nog 10 minuten lopen naar De Kromhouthal.
