And since I’m blogging from 2007, there are a lot of blogposts to check… So if you see a blogpost that’s missing photo’s or has a weird layout, please let me know by leaving a comment at that particular blogpost. A few more days and Milan design week 2016 takes off.
This year I will be in Milan for a whole week, spotting every design corner of the city. I’m sharing an Airbnb with a group of interior bloggers. We are all preparing our must-sees for the week and all agree we need more time in this city :-)

One of the interior and design trends of 2016 is the luxury trend. There’s happening a lot in the world. This makes that we look more critically at our lifestyle. We wonder if certain purchases are necessary.
Quality and durability have an important role, as well as the revaluation of utensils. Within interior design and home decor, this is expressed by the desire for products with a combination of functionality and design, luxury design.
The Portuguese brand Delightfull Unique Lamps is a great example of the luxury trend: they combine craftsmanship with luxury and design: Besides the lighting function, all their lamps have a luxurious appearance.
“Delightfull’s lighting reflects a personality, a frame of mind and strong emotions are present in each detail. Working with our hands, we transfer our passion and devotion into everything we make and thus our masterpieces are born. Share, soul and heritage with the world… a Delightfull world.” (Delightfull)
Within the luxury trend it’s all about warm and lush colors like gold, silver, copper and brass. These colors give an extra glossiness to the entire interior, as well as the classical forms and retro elements do.
Delightfull has lamps in the following categories: SUSPENSION, FLOOR, TABLE AND WALL. In terms of colors and forms they’re playing a great role within the luxury trend.
This trend can be combined with a lot of styles. From extreme luxury to industrial. Personally, I like the style very much because of that!

Hai, ik ben Anouk (bijnaam Nouk), samen met mijn labrador Saar woon ik in een gezellig appartement in Barneveld. Ik lees en bekijk alles wat met mode, interieur en lifestyle te maken heeft. Denk hierbij aan de diverse bladen, internet, blogs, Pinterest, Instagram, televisie, winkels e.d.
Dit alles heeft er toe bijgedragen dat ik vorig jaar van start ben gegaan met het geven van interieur/stijladviezen onder de naam NOUK LOVES LIVING… En met mijn blog wil ik enerzijds de “mooie dingen in het leven en de dingen die het leven mooi maken” beschrijven. Anderzijds wil ik mij graag verdiepen in het ontstaan van trends… In deze blog lees je waar de luxary trend vandaan komt: interessant om te ontdekken dat alles wat zich in de wereld afspeelt hier op van invloed is. Eén van de trends van 2016 is de luxury trend. Er speelt van alles in de wereld. Dit zorgt ervoor dat we onze levensstijl kritischer gaan bekijken. We vragen ons af of bepaalde aankopen noodzakelijk zijn.
Kwaliteit en duurzaamheid spelen hierin een belangrijke rol, evenals herwaardering van gewone gebruiksvoorwerpen. Binnen het interieur komt dit tot uitdrukking door dat we behoefte hebben aan producten die een combinatie van nuttig en mooi in zich hebben. Met andere woorden: functioneel luxury design.
Het Portugese lampen merk Delightfull Unique Lamps is een mooi voorbeeld binnen deze luxury trend: zij combineren vakmanschap met design. Naast de verlichtingsfunctie binnen het interieur, zijn de lampen stuk voor stuk designobjecten met een luxe uitstraling.
“De verlichting van Delightfull is een weerspiegeling van persoonlijkheid, gemoedstoestand en sterke emoties, die in elk detail zichtbaar zijn. Werkende met onze handen, brengen wij onze passie en toewijding over in onze meesterstukken. Deel ziel en zaligheid met de wereld . . . een Delightfull wereld.” Aldus Delightfull.
Binnen de luxury trend draait het om warme en weelderige kleuren: goud, zilver, koper en messing geven extra glans aan het geheel. Daarnaast komt het luxe gevoel heel duidelijk naar voren in de klassieke vormen, zoals bogen en rondingen, en in de retro elementen, zoals de bolvormen en herhaling van vormen.
Delightfull heeft unieke lampen in de volgende categorieën: SUSPENSION – FLOOR – TABLE – WALL. En daarnaast bestaat er ook nog GRAPHIC en ESSENTIALS lijn.
Hierboven enkele voorbeelden van het werk van Delightfull. Zoals je ziet werken ze met rijke kleuren zoals o.a. zwart in combinatie met goud of koper, maar ook met klassieke en slanke vormen, met hier en daar wat retro elementen, zoals herhaling van een bepaalde vorm binnen een lamp.
Qua kleur- en vormgebruik spelen ze geweldig in op de luxury trend. Het leuke van deze trend en van de Delightfull collectie is dat je het met meerdere stijlen kunt combineren. Je kunt er een hele luxe en over-the-top sfeer mee creëren, maar ook binnen een industrieel interieur misstaat het niet!

TOTO invited us for a very chic and delicious dinner at the WYNN hotel Las Vegas. While enjoying a wonderful meal, I sat right next to Cortney Novogratz. She’s well known from the popular ” The Novogratz” projects on TV in the USA.
“Together with her husband Robert Novogratz, this fun, hip and artsy duo design and develop unique properties in Manhattan, LA, & many more. They even have rebuilt entire city blocks from the ground up and transformed them into fabulous spaces.”
Corney told me she has family living in the city Utrecht in The Netherlands, wich resulted in a nice conversation about life, family, interior design, and designing, building, renovating and remodeling houses. She was a special guest at the TOTO dinner, so she could tell us all about her newest project: a castle in LA which they are renovating now and where all the bathrooms are designed with TOTO USA products. An AMAZING project! I hope it will be on The Novogratz soon.

The next day we visited the TOTO USA booth at KBIS2016, where we were shown the newest of the new. One of the highlights is the TOTO USA Washlet. I think you might have seen one before, but I know that if your are from The Netherlands, like I am, people here don’t have one installed in our houses……yet… We mostly use plain old toilet paper. Not even a bidet, like some countries more south in Europe do. But I think that once you know the benefits, this might change the way you look at the toilet routine!

TOTO had ons uitgenodigd voor een zeer chique en heerlijk diner in het Wynn hotel in Las Vegas. Onder het genot van een heerlijke maaltijd, zat ik direct naast Cortney Novogratz. Ze is bekend van de populaire “The Novogratz” projecten op televisie in de Verenigde Staten.
“Samen met haar man Robert Novogratz, ontwerpt en ontwikkelt dit leuke, hippe en kunstzinnige duo oa unieke projecten in Manhattan, LA, en in nog veel meer gebeiden. Ze hebben zelfs een heel “stadsblok” vanaf de grond af herbouwd en veranderd in prachtige ruimtes. “
Corney vertelde me dat ze familie heeft wonen in Utrecht in Nederland, wat resulteerde in een leuk gesprek over het leven, familie, interieur design en het ontwerpen, bouwen, renoveren en verbouwen van huizen. Ze was de speciale gast bij het TOTO diner, waar ze ons kwam vertellen over haar nieuwste project: een kasteel in LA, die ze nu aan renoveren zijn en waar alle badkamers zijn ontworpen met TOTO USA producten. Een geweldig project! Ik hoop dat het snel te zien zal zijn op The Novogratz site.
TOTO USA OP KBIS 2016
De volgende dag bezochten we de TOTO USA stand op KBIS2016, waar het nieuwste van het nieuwste werden getoond. Een van de hoogtepunten is de TOTO USA Washlet. Ik denk dat je het wel eens eerder hebt gezien, maar ik weet dat als je, net als ik, uit Nederland komt, waarschijnlijk zoals de meesten hier geen Washelt in huis hebt……Althans: nog niet … Wij hier in NL gebruiken meestal het oude basic wc-papier. Niet eens een bidet, zoals sommige landen meer in het zuiden van Europa hebben. Maar ik denk dat als je eenmaal weet wat de voordelen van een Washlet zijn, dit de manier waarop je naar je toilet routine kijkt verandert!
“Washlets zijn een zeer geavanceerd systeem in hygiëne en comfort. Een water-reinigingssysteem dat je opfrist. De washlet maakt gebruik van een warm-water nozzle die je kunt bedienen in ofwel de pulserende of oscillerende stand. Na het reinigen wordt een eenvoudig en rustgevend handsfree droogsysteem toegepast, met een instelbare temperatuur. En? Wat denk je: Hoe fris en schoon zou jij je voelen achteraf? Super toch? Dus als je aan het ontwerpen van een nieuw toilet, of badkamer toe bent, sta dan even stil bij deze mogelijkheid en ga naar TOTO USA site [of TOTO Europa] om een Washlet en toilet combinatie die bij jouw stijl past uit te zoeken. En mis alle andere ontwerpen van TOTO niet, zoals de wastafels, douches en baden.
