Tom Dixon presented a serie of lamps and interior accessories, all with a metal touch.
This collection is very appealing to me.
I like the metal-color because it’s color in a sense that you don’t add color, but use the material itself as a color accent.
I also like the minimalistic, organic and geometric forms.
They combine very well with the material.
And I like the fact that you can make a statement or create an Eye-catcher with one powerful element,
that’s also a good usable product and not only for decoration.

This new youngster is probably gonna be BIG in no time I think.
It’s a dining chair, just the missing one in the family.I love the Aluminium series a lot.
It’s a very clever design by Ray and Charles Eames,
where form, construction and function combine in a perfect way.
It’s a design from the 50’s and it’s never gone out of style.
The Softpad group joined the family in 1969 and the AE222 fauteuil is still on my wish list!

Besides the Aluminium Chair
Vitra also put Hella Jongerius in the spotlight.
This Dutch designer is miraculously good with color
since 2008 she’s the Art Director for colors and materials at Vitra.
I think Hella is doing a great job
and I’m a big fan of her color choices.
As she says herself: “I like to give the classics a new energy.
It’s an honour to take care of our heritage.”
At the fair in Milan, Vitra presented some of Hella’s items and details,
like the buttons of the Poldersofa, the elephant mousemat and some really beautiful vases.
She also designed the East River Chair,
especially developed for the UN lounge in New York
in collaboration with Vitra.
The combination of materials, the thicker padding of the seat cushions
and the strap at the back of the chair are there for a reason.
They make it a flexible and cheerful [or calm, depending on the color and material choices] chair, perfectly fit for public spaces.

De nieuwe Eames Aluminium chair EA101, 103 en 104 voor Vitra.
Een smallere bouw, nieuwe kleuren voor de bekleding, actievere zit, een slankere voet … Allemaal ingrediënten voor de nieuwe Aluminium Chair familieleden: de EA 101, 103 en 104. Ik denk dat deze nieuwe telg in mum van tijd groot is, want dit is een Dining chair, ofwel eettafel stoel, het ontbrekende item in de familie.
Ik ben fan van de Aluminium Chair serie. Het is een heel slim ontwerp van Ray en Charles Eames, waar vorm, constructie en functie op een perfecte manier combineren. Het stamt uit de jaren ’50 en is nooit uit de mode geweest. In 1969 kwam de “Softpad group” uit als aanvulling op de aluminium serie en de AE222 fauteuil staat nog steeds op mijn verlanglijstje!
28 nieuwe kleuren bekleding werden op de Salone del Mobile 2014 in Milaan gepresenteerd. Indrukwekkend om zoveel Aluminium stoelen in zoveel kleuren te zien!
Naast de Aluminium Chair zette Vitra ook Hella Jongerius in de schijnwerpers. Deze Nederlandse ontwerper is wonderbaarlijk goed met kleur Sinds 2008 is ze de Art Director voor kleuren en materialen bij Vitra. Ik vind dat Hella dat fantastisch doet: ik ben een grote fan van haar kleurkeuzes.
Zoals ze zelf zegt : “Ik wil de klassiekers graag nieuwe energie geven. Het is een eer om voor onze erfenis te mogen zorgen”
Op de beurs in Milaan presenteerde Vitra een aantal van Hella’s items en details zoals de knopen van de Poldersofa, de leren olifant muismat en een aantal prachtige vazen .
Ze ontwierp ook de East River Chair, die speciaal voor de VN- lounge in New York in samenwerking met Vitra is ontwikkeld.De combinatie van materialen, de dikkere vulling van de zitkussens en de greep op de rug van de stoel zijn er voor een reden: Ze maken het een flexibele en vrolijke [of rustige, afhankelijk van de kleur en materiaal keuzes] stoel, die perfect geschikt is voor de openbare ruimte.

Last IMM Cologne 2014 furniture fair there was also the DesignPost fair, right behind the big IMM Cologne building. [Between you and me I must say… for several years now, I find this the most inspiring place of the interior design week for design lovers… so make sure to go there too …]
So, I visited several brands and for this year for me the most appealing stand was the one of Linteloo. This Dutch brand is internationally well known already. They make very comfortable and relaxed sofa’s and beautiful tables, small cabinets and chairs.
I’ve had a couch of Linteloo myself a few years ago. It was “The Ibiza” and I loved it very much. It’s no longer in the collection, but they have so much beautiful new designs, like the green leather Hamptons sofa on the picture above, that it might be very possible that this modular design will be my next one! I love the fact that you can play around with it, and make different compositions.
I’ve tried to make some nice pictures at the Design Post Cologne, during the fair, but it was to crowded to get the items on picture… And in the end it’s not a pity, because the brochure of Linteloo is so beautiful, that I love to share their pictures with you.
For a few years now, Linteloo works with “kamer 465” for the color picking and the styling and I think this combination makes it even more beautiful! One more example of 1+1=3 I think.
So, sit back and enjoy! I for sure do so, when I see these inspiring houses, furniture and interiors…I could really live there :-)
In januari bezocht ik IMM Cologne 2014 en onder ons gezegd en gezwegen was ik het meest enthousiast over de Design Post, dat in een prachtig pand, vlak achter het grote beursgebouw te vinden is. Mocht je de beurs bezoeken, ga dan zeker ook naar de Design Post, mocht je daar nog niet geweest zijn…
Ik heb verschillende merken bezocht en was over het algemeen erg enthousiast, maar dit jaar sprong Linteloo er erg boven uit. Dit Nederlandse merk is internationaal al flink bekend. Ze maken zeer comfortabel en relaxte banken, mooie tafels, kleine kasten en stoelen.
Ik heb zelf een paar jaar geleden een bank van Linteloo gehad. Het was ” De Ibiza ” en ik was er gek op. Het model is niet langer in de collectie, maar ze hebben zoveel mooie nieuwe ontwerpen zoals de groene lederen ” Hamptons” sofa op de foto hierboven aan de post, dat het heel goed mogelijk zou kunnen zijn dat dit modulaire ontwerp mijn volgende bank is! Ik hou van het feit dat je de indeling kunt wisselen en er mee kan spelen. Zo maak je steeds een andere samenstelling.
Ik heb geprobeerd om wat mooie foto’s te maken bij Design Post in Keulen tijdens de beurs, maar het was te druk om de items op de foto te krijgen … En uiteindelijk is het niet eens erg, want de brochure van Lintello is zo mooi, dat ik graag hun foto’s deel op mijn blog.
Sinds een paar jaar werkt Linteloo samen met ” Kamer 465 ” voor de kleur keuzes en de styling en ik denk dat deze combinatie het alleen maar nog mooier maakt!
Weer een voorbeeld van 1 +1 = 3 vind ik.
Dus, leun achterover en geniet !
Ik in ieder geval wel, als ik deze inspirerende huizen, meubels en interieurs bekijk …
