While I was in New York for BlogtourNYC

I hoped to get the opportunity to visit

Huys by Piet Boon at 404 Park Avenue.
And boy was I lucky: I did!

This 1917 neoclassic building is totally renovated by the award-winning Dutch property developers Kroonenberg Groep and Piet Boon created the total concept for it. The commercial offices are transformed in 58 luxurious condominiums and a ground-floor retail space.

 

When I entered the apartment for the private tour, I immediately felt so much at home. The clean lines and open floorpan, the use of natural materials like the light oak floors, the calm color scheme all in whites, naturals and greyish tones, with some accent colors in the artwork and styling and of course the furniture in the modern style, with the ferm lines, all made me feel instantly relaxed, but still so right in the middle of the Big Apple!

Of course I felt this way because I know Piet Boons style so well, and you can say I’m a fan of his work, but also because you can feel the ancient connection between New York and The Netherlands. It’s like this place and everything in it belongs here, it always supposed to be here. It all comes together in this building.

All the items, the apartments and the whole building are finished with the most loveliest and luxurious materials and designs with an eye for details. It feels very elegant and stylish, but with the down to earth touch of the Dutch Design mentality. A kind of less is more, but with a little extra. The building also has a big Roof terrace garden, a media lounge, a children’s playroom and a fitness space. Of course there is a doorman and a concierge.

Next to the condominiums there are also the penthouses with private loggia and view over the Manhattan skyline and a gas fireplace by Piet Boon. That’s the kind of penthouse I live in in my biggest dreams! So now I’ll take you with me on the tour of one of the condominiums.  Hope you just like it as much as I do ….

I’m still going trough my pictures taken at Salone del Mobile Milan 2014 and found some very nice things I’ve seen overthere, on my camera. Many pictures are not good enough for the blog because of the crowds of people in them, but here, at the Diesel, Moroso + Seletti + and more stand, I managed to scare them all away, so I could make some photo’s! No.. Just kidding…. But I’m happy I can show you these, because I really like the total concept of fashion brand Diesel for interior. I find the look of the furniture, upholstery, materials, designs and accessories completely fitting the brands appearance in fashion.
So what you see over here is a collaboration between Diesel and Seletti for plates, cutlery and kitchen utensils! Also they continued the collaboration with Moroso for the furniture and they worked with Foscarini again for the Lighting and with Scavoloni for the kitchen itself. It’s a total concept.
So now you can wear, live, eat, read and and cook with Diesel. They did a great job I think! Ilike the “tough look” they have created :-)

Nog steeds ben ik niet door mijn foto’s van Salone del Mobile in Milaan 2014 heen. Ik vond nog een aantal leuke stands op mijn camera, maar veel foto’s zijn niet goed genoeg voor de blog, vanwege alle mensen die voor de meubelen staan, maar hier, op de Diesel + Moroso + Seletti [en meer- ] stand, heb ik iedereen weg kunnen jagen, zodat ik foto’s kon maken…. Nee, grapje …. Maar ik ben blij dat ik deze wel kan laten zien, want ik heb wel wat met het totaalconcept van Fashion brand Diesel voor het interieur. Ik vind de uitstraling van het meubilair, de stoffering, de materialen, de ontwerpen en de accessoires volledig passen bij wat Diesel in de mode ook uitdraagt en ook een goede toevoeging voor in meubelland. 

Dus wat je hier ziet is een samenwerking tussen Diesel en Seletti voor de borden, het bestek en het keukengerei, eh gereedschap…. Ook zetten ze de samenwerking met Moroso voor de meubels voort en ze werken opnieuw samen met Foscarini voor de verlichting en met Scavoloni voor de keuken zelf. Een echt totaalconcept dus! 

Dus nu kun je Diesel dragen, er in leven, van eten, bij lezen en  in koken. Ik vind het zeer goed uitgevoerd en vind de stoere look die ze neerzetten erg leuk :-)

You probably have heard it already: The collaboration between Piet Boon and Linteloo. Linteloo now covers the production, sales and distribution of the Piet Boon Collection, but Piet Boon will continue to do the designing and development at his studio. During the Salone del Mobile 2014 they presented both collections in a wonderful location at Via Tortona.
What surprised me was the colorful presentation. Piet Boon is well known for his neutral and calm color palette, but this time it was very vivid! The settings were mostly in greens with almost yellowish greens, or grays with dusky pink, in daring, but not too bold combinations. I liked it a lot! And the fine fabrics like velvets and smooth leathers…A very comfortable feeling :-)

Je hebt waarschijnlijk al wel gehoord: De samenwerking tussen Piet Boon en Linteloo. 
Linteloo regelt nu de productie, verkoop en distributie van de Piet Boon collectie, maar Piet Boon  studio zal zelf de ontwerpen en ontwikkelen van de collectie blijven doen. Tijdens de Salone del Mobile 2014 waren beide collecties te zien op een prachtige locatie aan de Via Tortona. 


Wat me aangenaam verraste was de kleurrijke presentatie. Piet Boon staat bekend om zijn neutrale en rustige kleurenpalet, maar deze keer was het erg levendig! De settings waren vooral in groentinten met bijna geelachtig groen of in grijs met oudroze. Gedurfde, maar niet te pittige combinaties. Ik vond het erg mooi! En de fijne stoffen zoals fluweel en soepele leersoorten … Die geven het geheel een super comfortabel gevoel :-)

You can’t do without it in your interior. 
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the exhibition of the Danskina rugs in Milan. 
It was such a warm and colorful ambience, but still contemporary, although you can definitely can see the vintage influences. 
I love the texture of textile and the fact that rugs, carpets, 
but also cushions and curtains can make a house feel like a home.
It gives the interior a personal touch and if you dare, a color splash.
Danskina has a big variety of carpets 
with different, extraordinary textures and colors.
Also they work with great designers like Ulf Moritz, Hella Jongerious and Karin An Rijlaarsdam.

Textiel! 
Je kunt niet zonder in je interieur. 
Ik was erg verrast toen ik de stand van de Danskina carpetten op de beurs in Milaan zag. 
Het was een warm en kleurrijk gevoel, eigentijds, met toch behoorlijk wat vintage invloeden. 

Ik hou van de textuur van textiel en het feit dat tapijten,
maar ook kussens en gordijnen er voor zorgen dat je van een huis je thuis kunt maken. 
Het geeft het interieur een persoonlijk tintje en als je durft, een kleur impuls. 

Danskina heeft een grote collectie kleden met veel verschillende, bijzondere texturen en kleuren Plus ze werken met 
grote ontwerpers zoals Ulf Moritz, Hella Jongerious en Karin An Rijlaarsdam.

Tom Dixon presented a serie of lamps and interior accessories,
all with a metal touch.


This collection is very appealing to me.
I like the metal-color because it’s color in a sense that you don’t add color, but use the material itself as a color accent.
I also like the minimalistic, organic and geometric forms.
They combine very well with the material.
And I like the fact that you can make a statement or create an Eye-catcher with one powerful element,
that’s also a good usable product and not only for decoration.

Tom Dixon presenteerde een serie van lampen en interieur accessoires, 
allemaal met een metalen tintje. 
Ik vind het een mooie collectie die me erg aanspreekt. 
Niet alles is nieuw, maar er zijn wat mooie aanvullingen bijgekomen.  

Ik hou van de metaal-kleur omdat het kleur is in de zin dat je geen kleur toevoegt, maar gebruik maakt van het materiaal zelf als een kleuraccent. 
Ik hou ook van de minimalistische, organische en geometrische vormen. 
Ze combineren heel goed met het materiaal. 
En ik hou ook van het feit dat je een statement kunt maken 
of een Eye-catcher hebt, met een enkel krachtig element 
dat ook goed bruikbaar is als meubelstuk, 
accessoire of verlichting en niet alleen ter decoratie is.
