Toevallig liepen we er langs toen Louise van 30s Magazine en ik na een bezoekje aan de Kunsthal in de Pannekoekstraat in Rotterdam nog even wat gingen drinken:
Het restaurant was net een paar weken daarvoor geopend.
Op de een of andere manier trok het gelijk onze aandacht.
De deuren stonden open en het terras was al goed gevuld.
Het logo met de naam in zwarte letters viel me gelijk op.
Het is de stijl van wat ik noem het “Barber” logo.
Daarin is de naam in een handschrift lettertype samen met een icoon,
in dit geval een vork en lepel, gevormd tot een badge-achtig logo.
Erg krachtig!
Maar ook het interieur viel me op: ruim en ongedwongen, met veel tafeltjes voor 2 personen, maar ook ruimte genoeg voor een groter gezelschap. De industriële uitstraling in combinatie met de blauw geschilderde lambrisering en de grote blauwe wand met verschillende bordjes is een mooie combinatie. De gedeeltelijk kaal gelaten betonnen wanden en steunbalken aan het plafond, de terrazzo en zwart wit geblokte vloer geven het een extra industrieel karakter.
Maar… naar een restaurant ga je natuurlijk om te eten.
Bij de pasta Kantine kun je terecht voor: Pasta!
Maar ook voor een heerlijke salade want:

Nog wat info van de site: Welkom bij De Pasta Kantine! Eten waarvoor eten bedoeld is. Voedzaam en gezond. Een eerlijke keuken met verse pasta’s, ingrediënten en kruiden. Ruime keuze uit de lekkerste authentieke pastagerechten (ook glutenvrij en volkoren) een salade of een combinatie van een salade met een kleine portie pasta. Gerechten met passie, gemaakt met passie.
Wij gebruiken zoveel mogelijk biologische producten, in balans met prijs en kwaliteit. Onze pasta’s worden bereid terwijl u wacht, want “een pasta wacht nooit op haar gasten, het is de gast die op de pasta wacht”.
De volgende keer dat ik in Rotterdam een hapje ga eten
The restaurant had just opened a few weeks earlier.
In a way the restaurant appealed to me.
The doors were wide open and the terras was filled with people.
And the logo with the name in black lettering caught my attention too.
It is in a style of what I call the ” Barber ” logo.
It’s a combination of the name in a handwriting font combined with an icon, in this case a fork and spoon, that are formed into a badge-like logo. It works very powerful!
But I like the interior too : It’s spacious and casual, with lots of smaller tables for 2 persons, but also plenty of room for a larger party. The industrial look combined with the blue painted paneling and the big blue wall with different plates is a beautiful combination. The partially bare concrete walls and support beams on the ceiling and the terrazzo and white checkered floor give it an nice industrial character.
But you go to a restaurant to eat of course.
When you go to “De Pasta Kantine”, you go for: Pasta!
But also for a delicious salad, because :

The next time I ‘m going to eat a snack in Rotterdam,
Wat is er nou fijner dan eventjes helemaal weg te zijn en je onder te dompelen in rust en wellness? Ik weet zeker dat er mensen zijn, die net als ik de hele dag in touw zijn met hun werk, passie, gezin en alles wat de dag brengt. Ik houd enorm van deze drukte en energie. Ik houd van de steden, het reizen, het ontdekken van nieuwe dingen en de constante stroom van creativiteit. Maar soms moet ik me weer opladen en bijkomen. Voor mij is dat wellness, natuur en rust.
Even helemaal niks.
Onlangs was ik op een plek waar dat perfect kan: de Heerlickheijd van Ermelo. Het enorme pand doet in zijn grootte een beetje aan als een landhuis. Het ligt in de bosrijke omgeving in de noord-Veluwe. Het restaurant van het hotel heeft veel oude elementen in het interieur verwerkt en is heel ruimtelijk door het hoge planfond. Het hotel is daarnaast bezig om alle kamers en gangen te restylen naar een modernere stijl. De kamer waar ik in verbleef heeft deze restyling al ondergaan. Deze contrastrijke combinatie van oud en modern heeft wel wat… Daarnaast is er een heerlijk terras en een enorme tuin. En deze buitenruimte samen met de sauna, het zwembad en de wellness maakt het voor mij zo’n goede plek om op te laden en te relaxen.
Op het programma staan ook speciale detox, wellness en yoga programma’s waar je onder goede begeleiding even helemaal aan jezelf kunt werken en weer goed in energie komt te zitten.

What would be more relaxing than getting away from it all and immerse yourself in wellness?
I’m sure there are people just like me, who work whole week, live with passion, have a family and deal with everything a day brings. I love the fuss and energy. I love the city, traveling, discovering new things and the constant flow of creativity. But sometimes I have to recharge myself and recover. To me that is wellness, nature and tranquility.
The huge building looks a bit like a manor. It’s located in the wooded area of ” Noord Veluwe”. The hotel restaurant has a lot of old interior elements and is very spacious with a high ceiling. They are restyling and redesigning the rooms to a more modern style. The room I stayed in has been restyled to this new look. The contrast between the older details in the restaurant and the modern rooms works for me. There is also a lovely terrace and a huge garden. This outdoor space, combined with a sauna, the pool and spa makes it such a good place for me to recharge and fully relax.
On the program there are special detox-, spa- and yoga programs where you can unwind and also work on your energy under proper supervision.

Laatst was ik een weekendje naar Amsterdam en logeerde in de Coco-Mat kamer in het Skotel hotel.
Ik had deze overnachting gewonnen met een wedstrijd op Facebook door Coco-Mat Amsterdam en was zo blij dat ik in deze prachtige kamer mocht slapen!
Zoals je weet ben ik gek op Design Hotels en stedentrips. En ik houd ook van luxe bedden, dus dit was een dubbele traktatie. Ik ben een grote fan van Coco-Mat: ik slaap thuis ook in een bed van Coco-Mat! Dus ik kan uit ervaring vertellen dat het geweldig is.
Het feit dat het bed is gemaakt van natuurlijke materialen is een groot pluspunt voor mij. Ik houd ook van het beddengoed en de materialen die zij gebruiken voor de meubels.
